ok, thanks. Video uploaded.
With enhanced precision it is creating a new marker for every beat, that doesn’t work well in Lexicon so I would recommend at least not using enhancing precision. Not sure about regular dynamic, it should work in most cases and I can only see the occasional double beat, nothing extreme.
Am I the only one seeing this issue or is this something that would impact any user that uses enhanced precision? I still see BG’s impacted by Dynamic without enhanced precision.
I tried turning off any setting in LXC relating to BG, but it seems to impact my BG regardless of any settings I set. Is there a way to get LXC to completely ignore and not touch anything related to BG so that I don’t have this problem going forward? Otherwise, this is probably a deal breaker for me - I can’t have my BG’s disrupted with every sync.
Haven’t heard other complains about this yet but enhanced precision is pretty new, they actually only added it to the analyze popup in 7.0.9, before that it was hidden in the settings. So probably more users will have this problem in the future.
I don’t really know a good solution for this problem yet, because RB sets a new marker at every beat but Lexicon is not made to properly work (nor other DJ apps) with 500+ markers.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a solution for this problem either.
But I also noticed that RB 7.09 is a bit overdoing it with the number of new beat markers. Normally, one new marker every 4-8 bars is enough.
Ok, i’ll use enhanced sparingly but the issue is also there in Dynamic without enhanced. I migrated my library from RB5 straight to 7 so much of the analysis used this new method. Lots of work now to go back and fix all the BG . The new intellegent analysis is VERY good at analysis of some of the trickies tracks. I used to have to set a lot of manual marks on these but not so much so its likely to see adoption by openformat DJs.
Hi, i am having the same problem! I had all my beatgrids fixed in rekordbox and locked all my tracks. Now i have synced lexicon with rekordbox again and it completely messed up ALL my beatgrids. Hours of work!! How do I restore my beatgrids?
Okay so I managed to get a backup from last January and sadly/luckily i’m not a famous booked DJ so I don’t have many songs. My rekordbox has now 1912 songs and my lexicon has 2118. So I only miss 206 songs in rekordbox. My file library does contain these songs.
I want to resync lexicon to rekordbox but when I resync, it again messes up my beatgrids! Also for tracks that are locked! Is there an option I can just turn off the beatgrid sync from lexicon? So only sync tags and library but not the cues and beatgrids???
It’s not possible atm because of the beatshift issue. But in what way are you beatgrids messed up? There is a fix for RB in the beta that might help you. Can you share a screenshot?
I have had the same issue and have cancelled my lexicon subscription as a result. If there were just a way to have lexicon only manage playlists and not touch grid analysis at all, it would be really useful software. but I’m sick of having to constantly re-analyse tracks while I’m playing live, and there doesn’t seem to be a solution
Thanks for writing. I thought I was the only one facing this issue. I’m going to cancel as well. So time consuming and unpredictable to have the grids messed up during a set. I’ve tried every setting to keep it from touching the grid but it doesn’t seem to have a way to disable this.
The new 1.8 update will have an option to never touch beatgrids when syncing. This may result in shifted cues due to the beatshift problem, but the grid will always be what you set it in the DJ app. New tracks will still get the Lexicon grid.
Hi Christiaan,
Thanks for replying. When will this update be available? So the way I work is as follows.
- I download new music in category (example: i’m preparing a bouncy techno set)
- I place the downloaded music in my library folder on my computer under the main genre.
- I drag and drop the new downloaded music in the desired playlist on rekordbox.
- I fix the grid and set some cues.
- I then back-up my library in rekordbox (tip for everyone: get this in your routine)
- I then import my rekordbox library to lexicon (it will add everything that maybe already there but as it was configured in rekordbox. And it will add the downloaded music with the cue points as configured in rekordbox.
- I then only touch up the downloaded music by making tags, editing titles, editing track information and so on.
- After I finish, I export all to rekordbox.
In this case if lexicon doesn’t touch the beatgrid and the beatgrid was fixed together with the cue points in rekordbox already before importing to lexicon, it shouldn’t shift the cue points as lexicon just puts them back on the same spot as before right?
Lexicon is really a great software that I use for library management and finding new tracks as well. Would love to keep using it as a reliable system.
Please let me know when the update will be live.
The way you described, it should export the same beatgrids as it imported. Can you give me a screenshot of the before & after of a track so I can clearly see the problematic grid?
