VDJ, Smartlists, & Playlists

I JUST had an AHA moment. I do a full sync from Lexicon to VDJ, but always end up with less files in the VDJ database than I do in the Lexicon database. I think I realized why. The songs that were missing are in ALL TRACKS in Lexicon and have custom tags (which are also written to the genre column), but they only exist in my SMARTLISTS, not any PLAYLISTS. In order for those tracks to appear, I have to create an actual PLAYLIST called All Tracks, and paste the tracks from Lexicon ALL TRACKS there in order for VDJ to pick them up. From there, my Smartlists populate in VDJ correctly after sync.

Is there an easier or more efficient way to do this while keeping the Smartlist structure in VDJ? I am aware of the “Smartlist to Playlist” option in VDJ, but IMO, that defeats the purpose. How can I get the equivalent of an ALL TRACKS “playlist” without having to add every new track to lexicon AND have another playlist that basically is a mirror of Lexicon’s All Tracks?

You could just make a smartlist in Lexicon that always gets you all tracks with a rule like “Title does not blablabla”. Then you add a second rule that definitely does not exist in VDJ so that smartlist always becomes a playlist in VDJ.

Fiddled with this last night and came up with another solution that’s similar enough to what I’m already doing that it feels fairly seamless. I created a playlist in Lexicon called “All Tracks”…Now when I bring in tracks, I simply drag them into that folder (which still puts them in the Lexicon library for all tracks). From there, I can do exactly what I always do with mny tracks…then when I sync, it gives me all the tracks there…

I’ll look at your option as well…
