Hi, I am having issues with files in lexicon where I will analyse them and sometimes the BPM is right whilst other times it isn’t. The same files when I have added hot cue points then get synced to Serato.
Once I open Serato the beat grid is off by a good half beat but the bpm is also wrong. The tracks also seem to get coloured a strange blue colour which is something I certainly haven’t done.
I have tried to re-encode the tracks (MP4 videos from ProVids4DJs) as well as using your beat shift fixer. nothing seems to help and the only solution is to re-analyse within Serato so the beat grid is corrected and then import into lexicon and quantise my hot cues, save that change and make sure the button for beat grids not to be touched is selected.
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? it only seems to happen with MP4 files for me currently.
Thanks
This is the beatshift problem. In the current beta version there are fixes specifically for M4A and MP4 files so they may work for you. You can try the beta here: Download | Lexicon DJ - DJ Library Management
Not sure if this will make any difference, but I exported to rekordbox and that seems to be fine with hot cues and beatgrids in the right place if set in lexicon but wrong if set in Serato.
Yeah I just found that too, it should be better in the next beta update. Probably tomorrow
just tried with the beta, the beat shift hasn’t worked properly and the tracks are still being given a strange colour tag when sent to Serato
You might need to do a full import with merge disabled so your library gets cleared and old beatshift data is removed. If that doesn’t help then I need to check the MP4 here and see if I can find anything
Hi Christiaan, today I completely deleted all files from my lexicon library, removed all cue points and the track colour Lexicon keeps adding in Serato and reanalysed the tracks.
I then done a complete fresh import into lexiconDJ beta where all of the beat grids were out. I then analysed within lexicon and ran the beat shift fixer selecting force reencode.
I asked lexicon to set new cue points and within lexicon which it done fine.
To test everything as a fresh install I have completely deleted the Serato library also so it is a fresh start going from lexicon to that.
I then exported this into Serato and the problem still persists.
I have noticed there is no notification or acknowledgment that the beat shift has taken place and is complete.
I am able to test it like this due to it being my backup system and not main work system. and I am only testing this on a small batch of files I’ve had issues with.
There are logs for the beatshift in the beta, check the log files.
If fresh files on the beta didnt work, maybe the files aren’t caught by the scanner. If you send me a few, I can test them here.
You can upload with this link: http://upload.lexicondj.com
Uploading 4 files now for you
Thanks, found the problem. This will be fixed in the next beta update (probably today or tomorrow). See #beta-changelog on Discord
hi Christiaan, just tried with the latest beta update and still getting the same beat grid and hot cue issues
Did you import from Serato again? disable merge (or delete all tracks from Lexicon first), then it should work
I deleted all the tracks from lexicon.
Added them back by dragging and dropping them in.
I then analysed them and then set cue points.
I then selected all the files and used the beat shift function.
Next I exported to Serato DJ 4.0 (full export) and the grids and cues are still off.
The Mac I am using is an M4 Max how long should the beat shift take roughly as I feel like it is not working at all.
You don’t need to use the beatshift fixer, just sync to Serato is enough. the scan is automatic.
I just tried it again here on the beta, works fine, no beat shift in Serato after sync
Just tried doing what you said.
Again tracks deleted from both apps and starting fresh. And the beat grids are perfect in lexicon but out in Serato.
I have now tried with completely new files and a clean install again and when exported to Serato 4 the beat grids are still out.
Another thing I’ve noticed with MP3 files there are 0 issues.
With MP4 the grids are wrong and the tracks are getting the colour tag still even though I haven’t selected it at all.
MP3s have their own beatshifts but they are mostly fixed. MP4 is less common so these specific MP4s weren’t fixed yet.
I don’t really understand what is going on, it definitely works here with these files you uploaded:
I’ve tried everything including deleting the Serato folders.
When using the beta do I need to delete the full release Lexicon?
Should I redownload the beta and install fresh or is the app update ok?
Restarting Lexicon should upate it to the latest.
Is Lexicon completely empty before you drag in the tracks?
Then these steps?
- Make temp playlist in lexicon
- Drag tracks into lexicon
- analyze, set cues
- sync temp playlist to serato
then it should be good…
