Collection of tracks of where grid detection fails

Would it make sense to have one thread to collect tracks where the grid detection doesn’t work properly in order to improve the algorithm?

Yes but it is quite hard to collect tracks properly. Just one failing track is an outlier and not something I can fix. I need a bunch of tracks with the same problem before I can really improve it in a meaningful way.

Regarding collection: Maybe it could be an option to leverage the cloud storage functionality for that? For applicable customers there could be a report feature which flags a track and permits you to have a closer look.

This is interesting and timely for me. I bought four 24-bit 192 kHz FLAC tracks from 7Digital last week. I noticed that only one of the four analyzed in Lexicon DJ. I had converted them to AIFF, so I tried the original FLAC with the same result.

I shrugged it off. The 24-bit are the same price as CD quality and I chose those as I am editing them in Ableton Live. Once edited, I will export as 16-bit 44.1 kHz AIFF. That is my universal format and I have never had an analysis problem with those in Lexicon DJ.

This also got me wondering if other HD tracks had slipped into the collection. There are others and those had all analyzed. As a rule of thumb, to be ultra-conscious of consistency and compatibility across platforms, I am down converting those.

Do those 24 bit not analyze at all? I could check them and see why that is, if you upload them: http://upload.lexicondj.com

No they don’t analyze at all. I’ll upload the FLAC this evening. They load in Ableton Live with no issues. I haven’t tried Engine or djay Pro.

Thanks.

Hi @Christiaan. I uploaded four files in the batch I purchased as 24-bit 192 kHz. One, Donna Summer, With Your Love, did analyze. The other three (all Donna Summer tracks) will not analyze (i.e., no grid). They will load and play and I can set cues. These files do analyze on Engine DJ and djay Pro. The 16-bit 44.1 kHz AIFFs exported after editing in Ableton Live have no issues.

My systems (same behavior).:
Mac mini 2024, Apple M4, 24GB memory, Sequoia 15.7.4.
MacBook Pro 16" M3, 16 GB memory, Tahoe 26.3.1.

Best wishes.

Thanks I will check them

This will be fixed in todays beta release. Stable following later

Oh, wow, thanks. You’re really on top of everything!
