Copying Track to all locations of another Track

What is the feature or ability you would like to have?
Being able to match/map all locations of one track to another. And, the same placement number within any single playlist.

How will this feature help you and others?

So, for instance, let’s say I have an “Track A (original)” and I just created a new, “Track A (Intro Edit)”, as it is right now we have to find every playlist the original version is, and copy it over, and drag it into the playlist position of the original. Super tedious if you have to do this hundreds of times. And, can lead to a lot of errors…

Is this feature available in an existing product? If so, what product?

It seems like there might be some similar implementation already in place from the “Find Duplicates” tool, because after archiving tracks, their previous locations are mapped onto the kept tracks.

Does a workaround currently exist?
Manually… it’s brutal sometimes.

Hopefully this all makes sense, thanks a lot love the product!

You can do it with the Find Duplicates utility already. Just put the Tag Search Tolerance option on high or “Ignore Parentheses” and you’ll see them as an option to consolidate.

Hi Christiaan thanks for the response. Yes this would work for completely replacing a track. I should’ve specified though, this would be for keeping both tracks (instances when keeping both is useful, but we want make sure they’re in the same locations)

In other words, to use the previous example, sometimes it’s useful when DJing to see all versions of a track at a time, to make decisions about mixing, or to see we already played a version of the track earlier on that night and forgot. Being able to quickly map all locations of one track to another would make this much quicker and error free.

Thanks again!

There’s nothing for that in Lexicon yet, I’m afraid

No worries! Hopefully room for it in the future. Appreciate the consideration.
