Not sure if I have overlooked it, but thought I would ask here rather than beat my head against the wall. I’m recovering from ankle surgery, so I am spending an insane amount of time cleaning up my library, tags, and cue points. It wasn’t until I reached somewhere around track 1200 that I had an epiphany.
I have been labeling my cue points with things like “Hook”, “Chorus”, “Verse”, etc. Other cue points either have generic names like “Cue 1” or no name at all, and I’m cool with it…But now I had a thought…Is there a way I can change any cue point that is labeled “Verse” to be a certain color, cues labeled “Chorus” to be another color, etc? I wish I had paid attention to this from the jump, but alas, here I am…
Am I stuck? Or is this possible?
Yeah you can use the Find & Replace Cues
recipe to do that in bulk.
Ahhhh…I see. Follow up question, my cues have all kinds of different colors…if I leave the color blank on the find side, it doesn’t change the color of the cue, despite the matching label.
In essence, for example, I want all cues that are labeled CHORUS to be blue, regardless of what color they currently are. Am I doing something wrong?
It’s all explained in the tooltip of the recipe. But just match the text for CHORUS and leave color empty, then leave new text empty and set a blue new color.
So I am trying this, but it’s not changing the colors of the cues, nor is it giving me any cue preview before I hit ok. Am I missing a step?
There’s no preview, just have to run it and see if it works. Of course you need the right tracks selected
That answers the preview part…but I had the right tracks selected and got no change.
Can you make a screenshot of the recipe with how you set it up?
You need to add a Match Color, so probably need to run the recipe a few times with the colors that are in use
That was what I was asking. So I need to run this using all the colors I may currently have using the “Verse” label? Somewhat counter-productive, but could be worse. Thanks for the reply!!!
Yep sorry but surely you haven’t used all colors
LOL…No. But across 4k songs with different structures, I end up having the “Verse” (for example) be anywhere between cue point 1 to 4, and if I cue point the 2nd verse. It’s just a few extra steps, so not a humongous deal. I’ll just wait until I finish and do it in bulk.
Last question related to this…If I run this on cue point “Chorus”, will it also apply it to cue points labeled “PreChorus”? Or only the exact match of “Chorus”?
Thanks again.
I think I figured out my workaround…Once I’m done, I can bulk set all cue colors to “No Color”, then run the Change Cue Colors recipe on my labels…that should save me a few steps and some time. From there, I can fill in the other cue colors around that.
Good one yeah.
The match text will only find Chorus and not PreChorus like that

Indeed. Thanks for the reminder. And again, thanks for always helping me talk through these questions. I appreciate the support, and it solidifies why I now swear by Lexicon as my library management of choice.
