Custom tags import from text file

Hi, I bought a lifetime license a couple weeks ago after thinking about it for a while for what I consider now a game-changer software for digital DJs, I’m really impressed with the amount of work and thought that have been given to lexcion DJ.
Although there is a slight learning curve, as someone who wanted for a long time to move from the apple ecosystem (old macbook + itunes) to a newer windows PC without depending on itunes, Lexicon DJ has been the app that saved me countless hours and headaches.
I’m still not done with the migration though, as, unfortunately, Lexicon DJ does not allow me to import the many smart lists I created, so, there is still a lot of work ahead, but I take it as an opportunity to clean up my library a bit.
My former system was relying on specific tags put in the comments, on which all my smart lists are based, and I’d like to recreate it with custom tags that I would map to the comment field for syncing with serato. Almost everything is already baked in the software to be able to do that, except that I have many many tags (in the hundreds) and would like to find a way to create them without having to do it all by hand, e.g. type them one by one.
At hand I have a text file with all my tags, one by line, and I would like to know if there is a file I could edit to include all these tags in a given category that I created under custom tags ?
What would be very nice is a feature that let us import either:

  • Inside an already created created custom tags category, import a file containing one tag per line to add to that custom tag category
    Or
  • A csv file containing custom tags categories (either already existing or to create) associated with the relevant tags to create inside them e.g:
    Custom_Tag_Category1; Tag1
    Custom_Tag_Category1; Tag2
    Custom_Tag_Category2; Tag1
    Custom_Tag_Category2; Tag2

Thank you advance, have a great day.
Best regards

Hi there!
You can’t import custom tags from a csv/text file but you can import them from your ID3 tags like Comment, there is a recipe for that. You can choose the separator but something like #Techno #Vocals or Techno, Vocals will work. They will go into the import category so you just need to re-order them once after that.

Hi Christiaan,
Thank you for your quick reply, very appreciated. I will try that, I didn’t see there was this possibility, I will give it a try and start from there.
Have a great day !
