I’ve just connected up my phone to start using the app. The message is saying that it will download tracks to my phone. For the purposes of editing grids/cues, I can see that it might be necessary to have the files on the phone.
But my library is quite big and downloading to my phone is going to consume its storage space.
Do we have to download tracks to the phone to be able to use the app?
Is streaming tracks not possible, just to listen to and build playlists?
Yes, you do have to download the tracks currently.
Streaming them from the cloud is an upgrade coming to the mobile app at a later time, high priority but don’t have a planning on it yet.
Thanks Christiaan. That’s good to know.
Would it ever be possible to have a low bit rate mp3 exported that we could set cue points and tag but then correspond to the actual file in the library?
It’s possible but the beatshift problem because an issue, so it’s better and more reliable to have identical files. And it would have to re-encode files on demand which would make the sync take even longer.
That makes sense, thank you! Would lower rate mp3’s work for JUST tagging and playlist building?
Yeah it would work but kind of odd the disable half the UI if you use lower bitrate files
