Export to Engine DJ - Please clarify what the beatgrid options are

Kindly clarify what the “Default” option does.

I know what “lock” and “unlock” does.

I dont understand the description for the “default”

Is it saying New Tracks exported from Lexicon to Engine DJ will be locked if they have a beatgrid and old tracks beatgrid locks will stay as they were ?

A new track (that doesnt exist in Engine yet) will get a lock only if it has a beatgrid in Lexicon (so Engine does not overwrite it). If the new track has no grid in Lexicon, it gets no lock (so Engine adds a grid).
