Issue simply explained:
When I update tracks in Lexicon—adding tags or moving them into new playlists—and then sync to Rekordbox, it overwrites all the track data I previously created in Rekordbox.
What that means:
Let’s say I rate a track or add hot cues in Rekordbox. If I later make a change to that track in Lexicon (like adding a tag) and sync it again, the version from Lexicon replaces the one in Rekordbox. All my work in Rekordbox—like cues, beatgrids, or ratings, etc—gets lost (it’s not exactly lost, its just overwritten by the same data in Lexicon which is no data: No stars rating as opposed to 3 stars that was in rekordbox).
Why this is a problem:
I use Rekordbox during live mixing sessions to add hot cues and ratings—it’s much more practical for that for me. I don’t add that kind of data in Lexicon because it’s not as efficient for my workflow. On the other hand, I use Lexicon to build and organise my library, tag tracks, and manage smart playlists which I am constantly evolving and updating so sometimes I will need to sync the same track every time I update or make a new playlist.
Why I haven’t tried syncing Rekordbox back into Lexicon (yet):
I’m worried it might cause the same issue in reverse—overwriting Lexicon’s tags and structure with data from Rekordbox. Since I use comments in Rekordbox to hold tag info from Lexicon, I don’t want to risk breaking my detailed tag system in Lexicon, which powers my many smart playlists.
What I’m looking for:
How can I set up Lexicon and Rekordbox to work together without overwriting each other’s changes? I love the Lexicon tools and workflow so I want to keep using Lexicon for library management, and Rekordbox for real-time cueing and rating, without one undoing the other.
