Import from Serato / Sync to Rekordbox Issues

Hi Team, I must be doing something strange or my work flow is just not right :frowning: I have looked at the tutorials etc but can’t figure this out.

So, when I do a full Sync of my Serato database the folders appear is Lexicon but it a strange order…would be nice if they would display as my Serato does…but not a biggie.

The issue is when I sync to Rekordbox 6/7 with the Modified box checked it overwrites all changes I previously spent hours going thru in Rekordbox - this is mainly Active Loop settings and grid adjustments where needed - all the other info seems ok such as cue points etc.

I would have thought that the Modified sync wouldn’t change any of the data already there…any ideas??

Thanks…Nigel

Import should normally keep your playlist order.

Modified Sync means it will send any track or playlist to Rekordbox that have changed in Lexicon, since the last sync. So that means full tracks and not just a small change of a track. For example; if you change the title of a track, it will send the entire track to RB including cues, grid, etc.

That’s what I thought would happen, but it’s not…my import is all over the place in terms of order.

Also, the tracks that have NOT changed since the last sync have lost their updates that I had completed in Rekordbox -so something must be awry…but what?

Check if the number of tracks that Lexicon is going to sync makes sense, when you choose Modified Sync. Tracks in RB should not change unless Lexicon is overwriting them

OK, this is interesting - so I added 14 tracks to my Serato Library - I did an import to Lexicon and can see these 14 tracks in their relevant crates. When I went to sync to Rekordbox in the Modified format it said it was going to sync “600 playlists and 33397 tracks that were changed since the last sync”
That last sync was done last night when I logged this initial issue as I had lost all my Rekordbox settings that had been made over the past few weeks…
Any ideas why it would try and sync so many playlists and tracks?

What kind of import did you do, full or playlist with only the 14 tracks?

If you did a full import it does make sense because that would have updated every track in your library

Apologies for the slow response…been a tad busy!
So, I did a FULL import and selected the Merge with current library from my Serato.
The Sync to Rekordbox was set to “Modified”

Does this mean I am doing my sync from Serato all wrong? or what is the best way to sync from Serato so that the Rekordbox files don’t get over written each time?

You can do a full sync to Rekordbox or just a playlist sync to make it quicker.

Modified sync is more intended for when you’ve made changes in Lexicon and only want to sync the tracks that were modified.

OK…so I added a new playlist to Serato and also added some new tracks to my ‘house’ folder and did an import…I then just exported to Rekordbox via the playlist option. when i opened Rekordbox my new playlist was there as expected but my ‘house’ folder had over written all the rekordbox updates I had to do after it was imported - things such as setting the active loop on tracks and fixing up the grid alignment where needed - so basically all my work has been lost - I am either completely missing the point here or Lexicon is overwriting my files every time I do a sync…if the later is the case then why?
If I’m doing something wrong whereby my files just get overwritten everytime I update a playlist then what am I doing wrong?
This is really frustrating and costing me hours of time…

Everything in the sync is sent to RB so whatever you had in Lexicon on those tracks will be in RB after the sync. Active loops don’t exist in Serato or Lexicon so syncing to RB will clear those (unless imported from RB, then it will remember them).

OK…so everytime I update a playlist in Serato and then export that to Rekordbox I will loose all my settings in Rekordbox? if this is the case then I have basically wasted hours of time aswell as money on the subscription - my best bet was to use it to import my library once then continually update manually when I add new tracks - then I would not have lost all my work in Rekordbox.
This needs to be highlighted as if it was i wouldn’t have spent the money…

Yes atm that is correct, that issue exists for active loops because Serato doesn’t know what they are.

I will look into changing that behavior though, to maintain active loops in RB even if your cues from Serato don’t have that info. Stay tuned

Correction: I just tested it and active loops are maintained in RB when you sync, even if there is no active loop info in Lexicon. That only happens when the loop did not change though. If you made any change to the loop like start/end point or name, then it will overwrite the RB cue and wipe active loop info.
I can’t change it to maintain active loop even if the loop changes because then there is no way to know which loop in RB the Lexicon loop belongs to, so it has to re-write it.
