Okay I see. But it’s not a real rule in VDJ I think so it can’t import into Lexicon. So even if I let Lexicon skip it, you would lose it in Lexicon and then also lose it in VDJ when syncing. So I would recommend not using that at all in VDJ
Hi,
I’m currently using this to ensure that the latest tracks always appear at the top of my smart lists, sorted in descending order.
However, if I apply this via the global settings, it affects everything—including playlists with a fixed playback order.
Especially in EngineOS, this saves a lot of fiddling around on the touchscreen.
Right now, though, I have to keep switching the setting depending on whether I’m using a standard playlist or a smart list.
My current workaround is to sort all smart lists in Engine Desktop and then run a renumbering operation, since that feature doesn’t work or exist in Lexicon (Essential).
There is a smartlist rule in Lexicon that can help “Added in the last x days” so you only see the newest tracks in a smartlist (exported as playlist in Engine)
I actually love Smartlists — especially for things like new tracks by genre or rating. They are incredibly useful on the PC, and over the years a Smartlist can easily grow to several thousand tracks.
That’s exactly why I think it would make sense to have an option when exporting a Smartlist as a static playlist:
Let Lexicon apply a selected sort field during the export and write the tracks to the static playlist in that order.
For example:
Date Added
Genre
Rating
BPM
Artist
Title
The Smartlist could remain dynamic on the PC, while the standalone device gets a static playlist.
This would also avoid having the standalone repeatedly evaluate and sort a potentially huge Smartlist every time I open it just to load a track. And with tracks added directly from other sources, differences in tagging could potentially cause Smartlist criteria to behave differently as well.
So I’m definitely not against Smartlists on standalone devices. I love them.
I’d simply prefer to use the PC to do the “smart” part and let the standalone work with the already prepared static playlist.
Unfortunately, the tip above doesn’t really solve the sorting part of what I’m trying to achieve.
