I recently tried opening Lexicon on my Windows 11 machine and there was a message that said it could not connect to the internet and check my subscription. I verified it was the latest version. I also checked Windows Update and that is current.
I checked the older version running on my Macbook Pro and that was working fine. I logged out, logged in again, and changed my password without issue.
I uninstalled the app on my Windows 11 machine. I have tried both the main Lexicon-Installer.exe and lexicon-1.7.7.x64.msix. The Lexicon-Installer.exe closes with an error: 0x80072F8F
Lexicon 1.7.7.0 launches with an error: ENOENT: no such file or directory
Is there anything else I can try?
Try downloading it again, the latest version is 1.8.2
Error 0x80072F8F is a windows error, possible due to wrong date/time. Google for that for more info.
Thanks for the prompt reply.
I was finally able to install it. It turns out that Malwarebytes was blocking api.rekord.cloud and update.rekord.cloud . I’ve added these (plus the lexicon.exe in the WindowsApps folder to be safe) to Malwarebytes allow list, so hopefully I won’t run into any further issues.
Note that Lexicon was working fine with Malwarebytes for me prior to April, so this may help anyone having any new connectivity issues with Lexicon and virus checking & internet protection apps.
Thanks again!
This seems to be a persistent issue with Lexicon
Every time there is an update, the updatecheck.exe file gets quarantined by Norton.
I have to uninstall Lexicon, then disable Norton and then reinstall as well as put in a provision to stop it quarantining the next time I open.
It would be very much appreciated if there could be a long term fix.
Maybe you can tell norton to quarantine by path? The updater is out of my control and so is Norton… It should get better over time, apps need to build reputation with virus scanners and some scanners are very strict.
