Lexicon, MIK, and VDJ

I’ve been DJing for decades and have quite a substantial music library. Thankfully I found Lexicon for helping tidy it up and keep it organised. I use VDJ for my actual DJing.

Recently I realised how much better Mixed In Key is at key detection and I like the auto energy cue points so I’m not starting from 0 whenever I load a new track.

The thing I’m struggling with though is if I can add my existing playlists to MIK to re-analyse and re-sort them.

I’ve tried adding all (and then smaller chunks) of my existing library into MIK but it either crashes or (when small enough chunks) is extremely tedious. I must admit, I’m a little disappointed in the MIK advertising because it says it works with a bunch of different apps but it appears to only be a one-way sync.

I was wondering if anyone has any tips on this type of workflow? Especially now the new Mixed In Key Pro features look like a really good and quick way of putting together playlists.

You can let Lexicon read the MIK key and cues, see Guide: Using Mixed in Key with Lexicon
If you only let MIK do keys, it’s as simple as reloading tags in Lexicon.

Next Lexicon update (1.8) has big upgrades in both key and cue generator so you might want to check how those results look. If they are good for you then you can skip that part of the MIK process.
