Missing Tracks After Relocate & Sync

I think I’m missing something simple, but can’t figure out where. I sync my library from Lexicon to VDJ. Made a few edits in VDJ, then do a full IMPORT FROM VDJ back to Lexicon. When I do, it pops up a list of about 30 missing files. No sweat right? I relocate the files, then sync back to VDJ. Made a few more edits, then IMPORT back to Lexicon to ensure everything is in sync, but the same files I just relocated a few moments ago are now missing again.

Are you using import? Since you’re mentioning “sync to Lexicon” but sync is always to a DJ app. Import is from DJ to Lexicon.

My bad…yes, just a terminology slip, but that’s exactly what I mean.

Check what changed in the track for the location, if it’s missing then the location Lexicon has won’t exist on your disk

I think that’s my question/confusion. When I imported, it gave me a location that no longer exists on my HD after I moved a few things around. I relocated in Lexicon, then synced back to VDJ. After I made adjustments in VDJ and did a full sync back to Lexicon, why would those same tracks now show as missing again, with the same (now defunct) missing locations?

Yeah that is strange, but it would help to know details about that. What is the exactly correct and incorrect location it sees in both VDJ and Lexicon?

I’ll look it up when I get home. Best I can remember though, the workflow went something like this:

Tracks added to Lexicon from HD folder
Lexicon full synced to VDJ
Updated some cue points in VDJ
Decided to move tracks from the original HD folder to a different folder on HD
Full Import done from VDJ to Lexicon to update the cue points that I updated in VDJ
Files that were moved show as missing in Lexicon
Relocate each file in Lexicon
Full sync back to VDJ
Update a few more cue points in VDJ
Full import back to Lexicon

At THAT point is where I see the exact same tracks that I just did the relocate on show up as missing again. Once I sync to VDJ after the relocate, wouldn’t it update the file location? When I full import BACK to Lexicon, the address that makes it “missing” is the address from where the ORIGINAL add came from.

Weird…I followed the same steps, but used Lexicon Beta instead of the stable release, and it worked as it should, without showing the files as missing.

Let me reel that back in…just followed the same format again, and got the missing files again. The weird part though, is that when I search for the missing file in the VDJ search bar, the missing track doesn’t show up at all.

Just an FYI…I think I figured out my issue. I didn’t THINK it was a Lexicon issue, and I think I proved myself right. Just didn’t know where to look when I made the post. I think my issue was tracks being in the VDJ search database, but not in any folder or playlist. Because of that, I think it was importing those old tracks to Lexicon as missing files. I cleared out my VDJ database completely and followed my steps from above, and it worked just like it was supposed to…

Another PICNIC error…

No worries, yeah the VDJ search db is a bit weird, sometimes there are import problems with it
