Need Help extracting the artist from the title

Hey folks. Can anyone help me with this. I’m trying to extract the artist from these titles but no matter how I try it, it doesn’t seem to want to let me.

Where in the title is the artist? I don’t see one

Hey Christian,

See attached.

Title - Ashford & Simpson (Found A Cure) - Found a Cure is the song title; Ashford & Simpson is the artist. You can see it in the Artist column, which says DJ Bill Bass.

I would use the Split Field recipe: How to use the Split Field recipe?

It should be able to get you most of the way. The extra info like Short Edit is a problem but you can solve it too

Thanks mate. And another long shot here. Would there be a way to fill in the year the songs were produced without having to refer to google and inputting each and every year in myself?

It even feels stupid me as I’m writing this… haha

Yep, use the FInd Tags tool. Right click tracks → Use → Find Tags & Album Art.
It relies on accurate artist and title, so the extra info you have in it may prevent it from finding proper results.

Doesn’t seemed to have worked on this occasion for me. Even after following your instructions.

Did you remove the unrelated info like Short Edit and the artist from the title? So are your titles now the actual titles of the songs?

I kept the QH and SE (Short edit) abbreviations in there cause I needed them for mixing. However, I trialled one of the tracks that didn’t have the info, and it didn’t find any year when the song was produced.

Make sure to check the sources that are enabled. For EDM, Beatport is good but for anything else I would go for Spotify.

QH en SE will be a problem in the title since those are not ignored by Lexicon as they are uncommon. Things like (Extended Remix) or (Clean) and common things like that are ignored.

Maybe you can move that info into another field like Comment? You can even go further and create custom tags for them and with a Field Mapping (see manual) you can let Lexicon send that custom tag to your Comment (or Producer, etc) field when you sync.
