Search text string in tags column?

I often want to do quick tag searches in the track list for say, any track with a tag that has the word “hats” in it. E.g. I have two tags: “hats on down”, “hats on up”.

If I type “hats” in the tags column header search, no results are returned because it’s not the full tag name. Is there a way to do this sort of search quickly without having to create smart playlists or chain search exact tag names with “~”?

No, the quick search is on full tag labels. It’s like that for performance reasons and having a search like that on many tags can make the search unusable
