Sync To Engine DJ Adds Wrong Version of Song To Playlist

Please fill in this bug report template:

Version 1.7.17
Operating system (remove one): Windows / Mac
Windows 11

Bug description:
Playlist/Folder Sync From Lexicon to Engine DJ Adds Wrong Version of Songs (e.g. replaces same song but “dirty version” for “clean version”. Hard to trust the process and I waste time checking all of the playlists that come over.

Step by step to reproduce:

  1. From Sync Section in Lexicon I select the folder I want to sync
  2. It quickly syncs
  3. I open Engine DJ and notice, randomly the wrong song has been swapped out

Very frustrating.

Screenshot:

Also when I drag and drop the proper file gets stripped of its cue points :frowning:
Please help ASAP I have a gig tomorrow and this clean up would take me forever!

…in addition after wasting a lot of time troubleshooting things, I’m now getting an error when apostrophes are used in names of Folders or Playlists (see images). Lexicon picked the wrong time to give me issues :frowning:

Also when " : " are used… this Sync Failed error also trashes my library as tracks are randomly removed from unrelated folders and playlists. :frowning:

Also… here’s another issue or “inconvenience”; now I can no longer drags folders around to sort them without the folders wanted to nest inside of other folders either above or below it.

The folder drag issue is a known thing, will be fixed but didn’t have time for the 1.8 release. It’s on my radar.

As for the dirty version, are you sure the audio is actually different and it’s not just a different tag? Could be engine loaded info from the ID3 tags so best to confirm that.

I will look into the aposthophe thing.

Thank you for the feedback, Christiaan. It was super helpful. Here’s a summary of the current status after additional testing and troubleshooting:

Issue 1 – Wrong Version of Songs Being Synced (Resolved)
This issue was caused by having multiple drives with the same folder and playlist structures in Engine DJ. When Lexicon points to Drive 1, but Engine DJ also detects Drive 2 with identical paths, it creates confusion; resulting in the wrong version of a song being pulled. Disconnecting Drive 2 resolved the problem completely. Based on this, it appears to be an Engine DJ behavior rather than a Lexicon issue.

Issue 2 – Cue Points Stripped When Dragging and Dropping (Resolved)
This issue seems to have been tied to the first one. Now that the drive conflict is resolved, cue points are preserved correctly during drag-and-drop.

Issue 3 – Sync Errors from Special Characters in Folder or Playlist Names (Unresolved)
Using characters like apostrophes, colons, and semicolons in folder or playlist names still causes a “Sync Failed” error. This remains an open issue and may need further review.

Issue 4 – Inability to Drag-Sort Folders in Lexicon (In Progress)
This is a known limitation. The Lexicon team is aware of the issue and working on a fix. No workaround at this time.

Can you upload your Lexicon database & logs? From the Help menu. I’d like to check if the fix I have works before updating Lexicon.

This should be fixed in the 1.8.1 release now.
