Syncing to Engine Prime fails

I get this error message

My music is on a samba share indexed by Traktor 4, and also by Mixed In Key, which you don’t seem to support.

The Traktor Integration in Engine Prime is totally broken (which is why I bought your software).

I’m not running any antivirus software besides what is built into windows 11.

Engine doesn’t support network drives so I don’t think running an Engine library from a samba share will work.

The error is unrelated to that though, this is a permission or virus scanner issue. Sometimes a process is blocked (most likely lexicon-tagger.exe) so check if that may be happening.

Also Mixed in Key is supported, see Guide: Using Mixed in Key with Lexicon

I thought the point of Lexicon was to support the network drive access so Engine doesn’t have to?

Yes there is a permission or virus scanner issue. I have no idea what to do. I bought a Windows 11 machine for only this purpose, installed Mixed In Key, Traktor, Engine Prime, and Lexicon, and that’s it.

I also get the same error if I try to put tracks in Lexicon’s watch folder.

Since I have a vanilla Windows 11 install here I am hoping you can walk me through what to do to make your software work

Thanks!

You have to whitelist Lexicon for Defender, you can whitelist the entire C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Lexicon folder.

Lexicon supports network drives but if you sync your drives Engine and they still point to the network drive, then Engine just can’t read them.

  1. Thanks, can you point me to instructions for how to set up a whitelist for Defender?

  2. Is there any chance that Lexicon API can sync music directly to the Engine OS database on an SD card, or is going through Engine Prime required? I am considering writing my own tool to do this as I would love to never have to launch Engine Prime again. The only reason I’ve used Engine Prime at all is to push my smartlists (works) and cue points (doesn’t work) onto my device.

  3. For Engine Prime, if I make a local copy of the music files, then Lexicon should be able to successfully sync the Cue Points calculated by Mixed In Key into Engine Prime? I tried moving the library through Traktor Pro 4 to get the cue points, but this doesn’t work either :frowning:

You can sync to Engine USB’s or Denon devices. Use the Target Drive option on the sync page. You won’t need Engine desktop then.

Yes that should work. Try the cue generator in Lexicon though, it’s better than MIK.

Great! I will give it a try. Can you calculate an equivalent to MIK “Energy” ?

Lexicon analyzes track energy, right click tracks → Analyze

When I look in C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\lexicon\lib\lexicon-tagger i don’t see the exe:

Probably deleted by defender. You can just whitelist the entire lib folder

Thanks, that works! I know I have gone way off topic here… but is there a way to move the watch folder to be my mixed in key folder?

I am going to remove all files from my Lexicon library and re-add them from the mixed in key folder, and would really like for it to update as i pull new music through MIK**

(**) assuming that MIK is still better than lexicon at Key Detection

I found the settings to set it with help from the discord. Trying out the snazzy watch folder now (its 5000 tracks on a network share so I will give it an hour or two to load)
