I have been doing some syncing back and forth in a particular playlist between Lexicon and VDJ. I recently noticed something that I haven’t seen happen previously. Here are the rough steps that I took and the resulting behavior:
-
Start with a complete library that was synced from Lexicon to VDJ that was analyzed and cuepointed. Create a playlist from tracks already in Lexicon that have been scanned for tempo/beatgrids and cuepoints added.
-
Sync playlist to VDJ, where I test how well the songs will actually work together…Inevitably, I make adjustments and additions, like changing song order in the playlist or adding songs to the playlist.
-
Import the updated VDJ playlist back to Lexicon with the “merge” feature enabled. When it completes, I usually have 5-7 songs out of the 50 song list that now show as not analyzed. When I load the song, I see the previous cuepoints, but often with my first cue point (beginning of track) deleted.
I have never noticed this before.
Can you add screenshots of that? You mean that the tracks in step 3 do not show as analyzed in Lexicon?
Yes. The tracks referenced in step 3 show that they haven’t been analyzed in Lexicon. Here are some screenshots of this issue. The original playlist had 49 tracks. I changed some songs in the playlist in VDJ, then imported the 47 song list back to Lexicon. That’s where you see tracks in the second version that show as not analyzed.
Okay I think that can happen if the track in VDJ has no grid, then it imports an empty grid.
But you synced the fully analyzed playlist to VDJ in step 2 right? So all tracks in that playlist should have a beatgrind in VDJ too?
Can you upload your VDJ database file? You’ll find it by opening VDJ, then the settings and clicking the very small settings icon at the bottom. Upload that database.xml

Yes, the sync to VDJ was fully analyzed in Lexicon, and had cuepoints assigned. I included screenshots of the first cuepoint issue (disregard the missing cuepoint 3…I DID delete that one myself…These show tracks where cuepoint 1 at the beginning was deleted).
Not yet, will check this week

Okay it seems that when the cue is exactly at 0.00000 then it won’t import. The zero is missing in the cue so Lexicon ignores it but VDJ actually means that the cue is at exactly zero.
I’ll add a fix to the next version. Meanwhile a workaround is to place the cue very slightly off zero.
Makes sense. If I’m understanding you correctly, if I set cue 1 slightly off zero, then when the track imports to Lexicon, it will not only recognize the cue point, but will also show that the track has already been analyzed in Lexicon?
I only checked the cues but could be it solves the same issue
