Hi, I’m on version 1.7.1 of LexiconDJ and the export to Engine DJ doesn’t work correctly, a huge amount of files in the playlists are not copied and so doesn’t appear in the playlists in EngineDJ.
On EngineDJ I’m on version 4.0.1 but with version 4.0.0 It’s the same.
Are you syncing to Engine desktop?
Did you import your library from a different DJ app, before syncing?
I have been using LexiconDJ for a very long time now. My EngineDJ library is on an external 2Tb SSD and I add new playlists and tracks monthly via LexiconDJ. When that’s done, I open EngineDJ Desktop and have it analyze the new tracks and reload track info to have the album artwork in EngineDJ that LexiconDJ adds to the tracks. All of this has always worked really well so far. When I wanted to do this again today, I noticed in EngineDJ Desktop that some playlists that I had synchronized to Engine were completely empty and other playlists were missing a large number of tracks.
Nothing changed for Engine in 1.7.1 though, but there were small changes in 1.7.0. Did you have it work properly in 1.7.0?
I’m not quite sure, but at the time 1.7 was released, I went on vacation and didn’t use LexiconDJ. I’m now back from vacation and wanted to bring my library up to date.
Maybe it’s because of Engine 4.0 or 4.0.1. There is a change in the database that I need to make Lexicon compatible with. It’s related to cues and grids though and not playlists but I will check that too.
I don’t think that’s the reason. The tracks in question aren’t copied to the SSD in the first place. I checked the SSD and didn’t find any errors in the file system.
I still have an earlier beta version on my computer (version beta 1.6.114) and have the same problem with this one. Certain tracks, the same as in the final release, are simply not copied to the SSD.
1.15 Tb of 2 Tb on the SSD are also still free.
Okay so just to confirm: playlists are correct but have red tracks? Red because some files aren’t getting copied
No, no red tracks in the playlists, the tracks only doesn‘t appear in the playlist. But if I look in the music folder on the SSD I can‘t find the tracks.
Anything those tracks have in common? Maybe accented characters? They are always problematic
If you like, I can also upload the current database of LexiconDJ.
Did you try deleting your Engine database(s) completely to start fresh? Then sync so Lexicon re-creates all tracks and playlists
I think that would be a bit like shooting sparrows with cannons. Everything was working well until recently, so something must have changed for the worse.
Yeah true but I don’t know exactly what Engine does when there is a new version so things like this can happen, and it’s usually not a bad idea to reset the Engine database when 2 different programs are accessing it in different/unknown ways.
Just make a backup of your databases and you can always put those back
I tried the next best thing and took a freshly formatted (FAT32) USB stick and synced the playlists in question with Lexicon. I then received the attached error message from EngineDJ.

What Engine and Engine OS version is that? Seems like it should only show that if you run an old version
That was EngineDJ version 4.0.1. In the meantime I have downgraded to version 4.0.0, and then it opened the newly created USB stick (with the tracks and playlists that were causing problems before) without any problems, all tracks were copied correctly and all playlists are complete.
I then tried another sync to the existing Engine library on my external SSD, unfortunately with the same result as before - some tracks are simply not copied to the SSD and do not appear in the playlists. I have also checked the file systems of my hard disks again, they are both error-free.
Is there possibly a file limit in LexiconDJ?
No, no limit of any kind here.
Can you pinpoint which tracks are having this problem? And make a small playlist with a few problematic tracks, see if they don’t copy then either
Full track location would be good to show, might be relevant
