Failed to sync to Engine DJ

Not using Beta at the moment but happy to do so if you need me to

Not bothered about speed if it helps to resolve it, really appreciate your help as always

Yeah definitely give the beta a try, there’s been many changes so maybe it somehow has an effect here too

So, just tried the current beta and still having the same issue

Okay, I’ll make a test build for you in a bit

Logs show what track it is trying to sync so they will be spammy too, but easy to keep track of where it is at

Ok, so it exported fine without failures on the first attempt using that beta, however, it just sits in ‘Checking Device’ on my P4, when trying to turn the unit off it advises unable to power down as upgrading database, been like this for a good 10 mins now…the plot thickens

Ok so after a while it was recognised and worked, so something is different in more than we thought between the public and beta versions. this is all with artwork exported too

Okay, well what happens is that in the normal Lexicon it sends batches of 100 tracks (all track info + album art) to the database. It was 200 earlier where a similar error happened, so I reduced it to 100 and the error was gone. Now you get the error even with 100, but not if the batch size is 1…
I can try a batch size of 50 and see what happens

Ok cool idea

Try this one:
Windows
Mac x64
Mac ARM

Ok, tried that version and failed as it did on the public release i’m afraid, did you enable export to AFPS drives?

There’s nothing special for different drives… I don’t really know what else to try. I can keep lowering the batch size but at some point it’s just making it super slow for no clear reason and I don’t want that for everyone else.

To be fair it isn’t noticeably slower in my testing, and the error isn’t really revealing itself as no files are failing, so I am at a loss as to what could be causing this.

The only reason I suggested the AFPS drive export was to see if the larger batch processing worked, mainly due to people reporting issues with Sonoma and ExFat drives. Eliminating possible causes

So, if the export works on lower batch amounts, does this mean it is not the files or Database? or is that still the root cause? I don’t rally want to undo 2+ years of Lexicon database to sort the problem, especially losing all my tags as that alone will take ages. When I run the Database Integrity check in Lexicon it doesn’t highlight anything either

That album art error is happening on the Engine database, although I saw no errors when I did an integrity check on it.

I have one last idea… I’ll log all the tracks that are being synced per batch, so you should be able to narrow it down to 50 tracks. Maybe try syncing those 50 in a test playlist and see if that also fails.
And another thing to try is to remove the album art for those 50 tracks and then let Lexicon find album art again, that way we can determine if it was a “bad” art file perhaps.

Ok, let’s do that

Here you go:
Windows
Mac x64
Mac ARM

Logs should be clear. I would do the sync a few times and confirm the same batch is erroring before trying to figure out what the offending track is. Could also be multiple offending tracks… Those are the tricky situations

Ok, so on failure I checked the log and it starts really nice and easy to read then at one point it changes to be much harder to understand, I removed the playlist that I suspected was the issue and it failed again, with the same issue on reading the log.

I don’t want/need/expect you do anything with this info urgently, enjoy your xmas break, but if I didn’t post I would forget

Also, the files suspected of being the issue from the first run already had the artwork removed and re-found by Lexicon

Is that the right version? Those logs are from the previous version I think.

I will double check another time but I deleted the previous version, have a good xmas

Ok so I have found a log file that only updated when I exited the beta this morning after testing yesterday, the log is much easier to read but the files it was reportedly trying to transfer don’t exist in my collection anymore, I tagged a load of tracks as Corrupted and archived them, but it is still trying to export them. I thought when archived it wouldn’t export them?

Also, what happened to the options to ‘Move to Incoming’ and the ‘Import tag text’

Move to incoming would be massively helpful to sort these files out as I could then move them all to a separate folder - there is 512 of them - to double check them, I am not 100% convinced they are corrupt but trying to be as thorough as possible
